The Essence Grand Halong Bay Cruise I was designed and built by Vietnamese architects at Halong Shipbuilding Company Ltd. It measures 109.9 meters in length and 18.68 meters in width, featuring 55 overnight cabins and accommodating up to 320 guests. The standout feature of the Essence Grand Halong Bay Cruise I is its recognition as a “green” ship.
The “green” aspect is not just in its luxurious interiors but in the construction process, utilizing materials that are friendly to both people and the environment. It is equipped with modern, energy-efficient technology that provides comfort and convenience for users.
Essence Grand Halong Bay Cruise I is the first and foremost green, safe, and modern superyacht on the heritage bay. It can be regarded as a masterpiece created by Vietnamese intellect and manpower, from the design conceptualization to the shipbuilding and finishing processes.
The “Green” Yacht
Essence Grand Halong Bay Cruise I marks the first green yacht on Vietnam’s tourism map. The superyacht is equipped with a Chiller air conditioning system produced by Daikin, Japan. This system uses water as the refrigerant, which is circulated to each cooling space, utilizing seawater for heat exchange. It also features high-quality paint from International Paint (Netherlands), which is environmentally friendly and resistant to biofouling through a self-polishing method that avoids harmful chemicals being released into the water, approved by developed countries and the IMO.
All interiors are crafted from engineered wood (sourced from industrial plantations) rather than from old-growth forests, thereby minimizing environmental impact. The deck is made from modified bamboo, making it eco-friendly. Disposable items on the yacht, such as single-use utensils and water bottle packaging, prioritize recyclable materials.
The “Safe” Yacht
With a focus on placing people at the center, Essence Grand Halong Bay Cruise prioritizes absolute safety for guests as well as occupational safety for its service staff and crew members.
The yacht is classified as VR-SB and is authorized to operate in all coastal waters of Vietnam. It is the first overnight cruise ship in Vietnam that meets international standards for environmental sustainability and technical safety for overnight stays in Ha Long Bay, Lan Ha Bay, and is equipped to undertake long coastal journeys to locations such as Cat Ba, Co To, Quan Lan, Da Nang, and Nha Trang.
The superyacht utilizes a water supply system for onboard activities that is 100% filtered and softened. The electrical system is powered by an isolation transformer, which separates high voltage from low voltage, reducing electrical surges for onboard equipment, ensuring maximum safety for users. The yacht is fully equipped with LED lighting, significantly reducing electricity consumption.
Guests can feel completely secure with the fire prevention and rescue systems on board, which have been certified and approved by the Fire Prevention and Fighting Department for ensuring the safety of the yacht’s systems.
The “Modern” Yacht
In addition to safety and technical standards that meet international criteria, the ESSENCE GRAND HALONG BAY CRUISE I features the luxurious and modern design of a superyacht that embodies the future. Its design emphasizes spaciousness and aesthetic appeal compared to other international vessels departing from Indonesia, Singapore, and beyond to Vietnam.
This design offers guests a complete view to appreciate the stunning beauty of the Ha Long Bay heritage site and other beautiful coastal areas of Vietnam. Furthermore, the Essence Grand Halong Bay Cruise I is equipped with a Building Management System (BMS) that enhances operational efficiency, reducing the number of staff needed to manage the system. It automatically adjusts temperature and cooling space, saving energy consumption of the air conditioning system. As a result, it is extremely safe, reduces electricity usage by over 30%, and minimizes greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional gas-based air conditioning systems in case of necessary repairs.
